Student intake February 2011

Anthony is 18 and from Jinja. He is studying blocklaying and concrete practice. His father died of malaria in 2001.

Arnold, who is from Jinja, is studying motor vehicle mechanics.  He is 18 years old and lost both parents to AIDS. He lives with his grandparents.

Damalie is 16, and does not know how her father died, and has never known who her mohter is. She lives with grandparents in Jinja. She is studying catering and hotel management.

Martha , who is 18 and from Jinja is studying catering and hotel management. Both parents are alive, but her father is ill and hospitalised, and her mother is very poor.

Amina is 16, and is from Jinja. Her father, who was a Muslim, was killed by thieves. Her mother is a Christian. She is studying catering and hotel management.

Brian, aged 16, comes from Lwaba village, not far from Jinja. His father died in an accident in 2007. he is studying electrical installation.

Irene, aged 18, is studying electrical installation. Her father died from AIDS in 2000. Her mother is alive, but Irene lives with her grandmother in Buikwe.

Muhammed is aged 18, and studying electrical installation. His mother died in childbirth in 2009. His father is a peasant who sells banana leaves.

Steven lost both parents though illness, in 1992 and 2002.He lives with an uncle in Kiboga. He is 18 and studying electrical installation.

Rogers Paul is 18 years old.  His mother died of AIDS , and he lives in Jinja with his father who is very poor. He is studying electrical installation.

Annet is18 and studying hairdressing. Her mother died in childbirth in 2003, and her father in an accident in 2007. She lives with her grandmother in Njeru.

Harriet is 18 and from Kamuli , north of Jinja. Her father died of high blood pressure, and her mother is very poor. She is studying hairdressing.

Suszan is 16 and training in hairdressing. She lost both parents, in 1996 and 1998. She now lives with her grandmother in a small village.

Winnie, aged 18, is from Jinja. Her father died in an accident in 2006, and her mother is very poor. She is studying hairdressing

Malita is studying hairdressing . She is 17 years old and comes from Mbale.  Her mother died of cancer, and her father would not pay her school fees.

Resty is 17 years old and comes from Kamuli. Her father died in an accident in 1996. She lives with her mother who is very poor. She is training in hairdressing.

Joseph is 18 years old and comes from Jinja. He is an orphan, having lost his parents in an accident in 2005. He is studying motor vehicle mechanics.

Paul is 17 years old and is studying motor vehicle mechanics. His father died in 2006 from AIDS,and his mother dissappeared. He lives with his grandmother in Mayuge.

Charles is 17 and from Jinja. Both his parents died from AIDS, in 1999 and 2000, so he lives with his aunt. He is studying motor vehicle mechanics.

Fred is 17 and studying motor vehicle mechanics.  He lost his parents in 1997 and 1999, and stays with an aunt in Mbale.

Harriet is 17 and studying nursery teaching . Her father died from AIDS in 1995, and her mother is very poor. She comes from Mbale in eastern Uganda .

Ronald, aged 16 is from Kamuli , north of Jinja. He is styudying plumbing and sheet metal work. His father died from AIDS in 1996, and his mother is very poor.

Isaac, who is from Jinja, lost his father in an accident in 2001. He lives with his mother. He is 18 years old and studying plumbing and sheet metal work.

Esther who is 18 lost her parents in 2005 and 2008 from some sort of sickness. She lives with her sister in Kayunga. She is studying textiles.

Zulaika is studying textiles.  She is 16 years old, and lost her father in an accident in 1998. She lives with her mother in Buikwe, and the family is very poor.

Susan is 18 years old , and from Mbale in the east of Uganda. Both her parents died from AIDS, and she lives with her aunt. She is studying textiles.
