Vocational training sponsorshipHow much does it cost to sponsor a young person at NVI?The cost is £39 per month. Students spend 3 years at NVI, and ideally sponsors will commit to cover the costs for the whole training period. If you are not in a position to fully meet the cost of sponsorship, you may consider joining with others to share the costs as a group. What does the sponsorship money cover?Sponsorship money will cover the full cost of skills education, a uniform and residential care during term times (two 5 month terms per year) and help with equipment, as appropriate, with which to begin their new career. Will I be contacted by the person I sponsor?Yes, if you wish your youngster will make contact with you by letter a few times a year through the scheme co-ordinator. It will be very encouraging if you also kept in contact by letter. Correspondence in both directions will improve their communication skills, and let them know somebody is taking an interest in them. What will it mean to a young person to receive sponsorship?Firstly, skills education will open up opportunities for development, and hopefully long term self-sufficiency. Many of these youngsters have never been offered opportunities, and this 'leg-up' will make all the difference. Secondly, they will be encouraged to know that someone, even if thousands of miles away, cares and is prepared to support them. With encouragement comes hope. |
