With Thanks

2011      The 10,000 miles gruelling challenge that is known as the mighty Mongol Rally held no fears for Tim, Jamie and Charlie, the Mills brothers as they powered their second-hand Nissan Micra from London to the finish line in Mongolia. They arrived back in one piece in September, having raised a huge amount for UgandAid, one of their chosen charities.  Guys, what can we say??  Respect, and many many thanks!

2009      Thanks to Beachcroft LLP in Manchester, who have kindly supported us with donations over a number of years, and in May 2008 and 2009 a group of employees ran in the Manchester 10k and presented UgandAid with substantial donations on each occasion.

2007       Following on from the construction of the Motor Vehicle Mechanics facility, our next hurdle in 2007 was to equip it .  Our thanks go to Mark Mitchell, managing director of the Mitchell Group, and his team for £5,000 towards tools, together with their ongoing support for this project and Nile Vocational Institute.

The monies from Mitchells seemed to grow significantly in the hands of Draper Tools, who donated the balance of all the requirements for hand tools.  Draper Tools' significant input has made the world of difference.

Our hearfelt thanks also go to the many individuals who gave so generously to both build and equip the mechanics training facility.  They are not named here, but they know who they are. Such generosity has not only given young people in Uganda the chance of learning a valuable trade, but also will hopefully contribute to safer vehicles and fewer injuries and deaths on the Ugandan roads in the future.

What an experience the opening of the mechanics training facility at NVI was, not a dry eye in the house.  Thank you to everyone who has made this dream come true; we have been blessed by the generosity of organisations and individuals alike.  The cherry on the cake was the arrival of the Draper tools whilst we were in Jinja for the opening; our thanks go to Kuehne and Nagel (and especially Pete and his team) for organising this and meeting the freight costs.

2006      In April the Jephcott Trust  donated a most generous sum of £10,000 for the Motor Vehicle Mechanics facility building project.  With this enormous boost, and other donations, the building was more or less complete by the end of December 2006. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Trustees of the Jephcott Trust for making this possible.

Many thanks also for a kind donation of £500 from the Message Trust, Manchester, which will be used for student sponsorship.
